Niv Sheinfeld

Oren Laor

About the Workshop |

The workshop will teach movement materials from the repertoire as a starting point for observing the connection between body and imagination, and looking at building mental motivation for movement. The materials will be used as a raw material from which we will assemble new movement materials. During the workshop we will use different stimuli and contemporary music to encourage participants to develop personal interpretations of physical and movement motifs, through which they will be able to shape them into their own individual movement language.

About the Artist |

Sheinfeld and Laor have been creating dance works together since 2004. In their works they combine elements of the various performing arts, such as performance and physical theater.

Their first joint work, "Co-Variance", premiered at the "Curtain Up" Festival 2004. Their works "Pork" (2005), "Jorona" (2006), "Post Marta" ) And Big Foot (2009) were also premiered at the Suzanne Dellal Center in the framework of Curtain Up and International Exposure.

In 2009 we were invited to conduct artistic and curate evenings as part of the 20th anniversary of the Curtain Up Festival. In this framework they also premiered a new work - "Big mouth" (co-production with the Grand Theater in Kroningen-Holland, and with DWA-danswerkplaats, Amsterdam).

All the works of Sheinfeld and Laor were presented at the Suzanne Dellal International Exposure Center, and were invited to perform at dance centers and festivals around the world, including Montpelier Festival in France, Tanz Im August in Berlin, The Place Theater in London, American Dance Festival (ADF), Gabriela Mistral Center Chile and many others. In 2011, we were invited to present their work "Ship of Fools" at the Israel Festival premiere, as part of the Festival's 50th events. The work has been commissioned to date in 15 countries.

In 2012, Sheinfeld and Lior published the duet "Two-Bedroom Apartment" - a duet that brings them together for the first time as a couple on stage. The work is a new and contemporary version of Nir Ben-Gal and Liat Dror's 1987 dance. The work was commissioned by the French National Dance Center in Paris and the Grand Theater in Holland. The work was invited to premiere at the Tmuna Festival in October 2012, and since then more than 100 performances have been performed in Israel, Europe, the United States and the East.

On the duet "Two-Bedroom Apartment," Schinfeld and Lauer won the Best Israeli Art Award in 2013 by the Circle of Dance Critics in Israel, and in 2015 they won the Culture Minister Prize for performing a chamber ensemble.

Their work "Cowboy" was staged in August of Tmuna Theater in Tel Aviv, and their last work, "Bread and Fun", took place during the Tmuna Festival in September 2016
